Imphal, February 18 2019:
Condemning the silence and inaction of the State Government regarding the results of the 2013 Manipur Police Male Constable recruitment, the Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has alleged that the move of the authority is akin to insulting the minority community of the State.
Speaking to media persons at MMWO office at Hatta today, its general secretary MD Aminuddin Moijingmayum alleged that the Constitution was violated and added that instead of the 80 seats which should be reserved for Meitei Pangals out of a total of 2000 seats, only 61 seats were reserved.
Stating the repeated appeals have been made to the B JP led State Government, he said that similar to the Congress Government which preceded it, the current BJP Government is also content with neglecting the grievances and appeals of the minority.
He then demanded the State Government to either revoke the result of the 2013 Male Constable recruitment or devise a new mechanism for ensuring the minority get their properly deserved reservations.
Pointing out that MMWO did not bring up this issue due to the recent situation of the Citizenship Amendment Bill which engulfed the State and the North East region, he warned that if the State Government decides to remain mum on the reservation issue, various intense forms of agitation will be launched.
It may also be decided to openly campaign against the BJP in the coming 2019 election, he cautioned.
