National Health Campaign kicked off yesterday at Sangaiyumpham Nungfou market.
The campaign will be held on the theme "Healthy People Healthy Nation" under the aegis of Popular Front of India (PFI) from October 15 to 31 .
Vice-president, Popular Front of India Manipur State, Mufti Arshad Hussan Quasmi launched the health campaign after a marathon was flagged off from Sangaiympham Nungfou market and culminated at the ground of Sangaiyumpham Cherapur Makha Youth Development Association (CHMYDA) .
The launching programme was attended by Vice-president of PFI Manipur State, Mufti Arshad Hussain Quasmi, President SDPI Manipur State, Md Abdul Salam, General Secretary ASSA Sangaiyumpham Md Fajur Rahaman, India Coach 2nd Assam Riff NTS Athlete Md Sahabuddin, former Adhyaksha Thoubal district, Md Atao Rahaman and young athlete Yumkhaibam Nanao as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Mufti Arshad Hussain said that the objective of organizing such health camp is to spread awareness about healthy living and to stay away from many harmful diseases.
He continued that our younger generations should strive to stay fit and healthy and shunt the habit of taking drugs, alcohols and other intoxicants in order to have a civilized, developed and peaceful society.
Executive member of PFI Md Riyas expressed that India is one of the developing countries which is marred by many diseases complemented by numerous drug abuse cases which is hampering its overall development.
As such, the health campaign was organised by PFI to create awareness about the evil effects of using contraband substances and to develop the habit of healthy lifestyle, he added.
Health awareness programme, Yoga, Martial arts and other exercises were demonstrated as part of the health camp.
