Imphal, April 16 2018:
As apart of seeking fast justice for the victims of Kathua and Unnao rape cases, youths from different parts of the State participated in a silent candle light protest in front of Kangla western gate today evening.
The protest was organised by Manipur Secular, a Whatsapp group and Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) .
Briefing media persons, convenor of Manipur Secular, Akbar Khan said that rape cases are frequently happening in every corner of the country but most of the accused are set free because of their political background and money power.

He said that the recent rape cases of Kathua and Unnao are very horrific incidents and the children and women are feeling great insecurity in living in such a country where rape cases are occurring like a normal routine.
"A rape is a rape, community, religion and politics should be kept aside while solving a rape case," said Akbar.
On the other hand PRJA convenor, Erendro Leichombam demanded the implementation of specific law for any rape case, which can provide fast justice and one where no political or money power can interrupt the case.
Asserting that justice delayed is justice denied, he further appealed to the Government to give justice for all the rape victims at the earliest.
