Ukhrul, May 28:
Conveying to the general public, cattle owners in particular that the recent deaths of buffaloes in Ukhrul district areas was due
to infection from 'black quarter' disease, Joint Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Kh Tomba has called upon cattle owners
to ensure timely vaccination and preventive measures from the disease.
During a brief interaction, Tomba stated that around
12,000 number of domesticated animals (cattle) are being targeted for vaccination since a specific programme was initiated in
March this year.
Informing that in Phungyar and Ukhrul blocks the vaccination programme is almost complete with active
cooperation from the cattle owners and locals, the Joint Director called upon all concerned to contact district level
officials of Department for necessary preventive measures.
