Expressing condolence, UNLF has offered revolutionary salute to one of its cadres who passed away yesterday in a landmine blast allegedly planted by security forces.
In a statement, senior publicity officer of UNLF Ksh Yoiheiba informed that a special fighting group of 293 Bn MPA was on its way to attack a camp of the security forces at Aibol Joupi in Dingpi area at around 3.55 pm yesterday, when MPA No.2066 Private Heikrujam Thonba alias Robin s/o late H Krishnamohon of Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai accidentally stepped on a landmine planted by the security personnel.
Thonba was critically wounded in the incident and later succumbed to the injuries at around 6.45 pm yesterday.
Reiterating that security forces have planted numerous landmines around the peripheries of the remote hill areas where they could not penetrate, Yoiheiba informed that so far more than 10 MPA cadres have been killed in the landmine traps laid by the security forces, yet the security forces have been trying to mislead the people and putting the blame on UNLF for any
landmine casualty.
