Left behind by the security escorts in the lurch, a large number of empty trucks that have left from here to lift essential commodities from outside the State were made to station for about 2 hours at Kangpokpi today.
According to information received by the press, a large number of trucks including oil tankers, LPG carriers, etc were lining up along the National Highway 39 at Kanglatongbi since early morning today waiting for the State security forces to escort them.
At around 9 am, the security personnel arrived but they left escorting only the oil tankers much to the disappointment of other truck drivers.
After waiting for about 2 hours, the escort personnel finally came and escorted the trucks till Mao in two trips.
Meanwhile, according to police report, in all 177 Imphal-bound goods laden trucks, 47 oil tankers and 30 LPG bullet tankers have crossed Mao along with security escort at around 3.40 pm today.
All the empty trucks from Imphal have also been escorted till Mao safely and no unwanted incident had taken place, the police report added.
