Imphal, December 26 2016:
Reacting to KNA-KNO's press statement which alleged the presence of UKLF as well as NSCN-IM cadres in Moreh area, the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) today, clarified that their presence in Moreh town was due to the excesses committed by KNA-KNO on the innocent civilians of Moreh.
UKLF in a statement issued by its information & publicity secretary T James said the allegation that it brought in around 30 NSCM-IM into Moreh is totally fabricated and comes from a hideous proganda of KNA to instill fear and discord amongst the communities of Moreh.
An organization of their status should not stoop so low to spread cheap lies that has no basis, the UKLF statement said.
The Police, the Commandos and the 11AR are aware of UKLF's presence in Moreh and that there are no NSCM-IM cadres amongst UKLF cadres.
All CSOs like HTC, KSO, KWU etc, tribe leaders, ward leaders in UKLF's operational area south of the highway have been cognizant of the fact that the KNO's statement is just a cheap propaganda to malign the name of UKLF, it added.
The separation of UKLF from NSCM-IM is known to Manipur's public and media, it said citing incidents where UKLF cadres were killed by NSCM-IM cadres at areas.
The Government of India and the State government should investigate the many crimes of KNA committed for their selfish goals where they have eliminated scores of innocent Moreh civilians in Lenthei Lei.
The UKLF would like to request the concerned authorities to seriously look into this matter and send an investigative team to do a project on Lengthei Lei so that such atrocities by KNA-KNO may not be repeated in the future, it said.
UKLF's presence in Moreh is supported by Moreh civilians and leaders who believed that there would be balance of power that would curb the excesses of KNA-KNO.
Another reason why UKLF is able to move into Moreh and make it their operational area is owing to the fact the KNA-KNO has failed the people of Moreh and also lost the trust of the Government of India, the UKLF statement said.
