Imphal, May 25 2016:
Phungreiyur Welfare Association (PWA), Ukhrul has rebuked People's Movement for Resurgent Manipur's (PMRM) allegations that 'Ukhrul House' seems to have a hidden agenda for few politicians who are interested to divide hills and valley.
PWA president Premi Shangh during a press meet today said Ukhrul-house is no 'hidden agenda' as alleged by PMRM.
The house can be renamed to Hillmen House or any other if need arises.
The PWA president added that it is a non-political organisation.
The association rubbished PMWM's assertion that the Central Government has been providing funds for construction of short stay homes/hostels to support tribals and minorities and that many such shelters are set up in Imphal for the sole purpose of helping the tribal population.
It said no such accommodations are set up at Imphal.
PWA had painstakingly organised fund drives for the construction of the house.
The basic aim of the association is to help the people from the hills by providing an affordable shelter home.
In doing so, the association have neither a hidden agenda nor are sowing seeds of hatred amongst communities, the president added.
