Contract employees of NRHM continue sit-ins

Contract employees of National Rural Health Mission under the auspices of All Manipur National Health Mission Employees’ Welfare Association continued staging sit-in protest demanding service regularisation today at the premises of CMO, Imphal East district, Porompat .
Speaking to reporters, assistant secretary of All Manipur National Health Mission Employees’ Welfare Association S Naoba said there are a total of 2265 contract employees under National Rural Health Mission in the State.
Out of these, there are about 317 contract employees including doctors, nurses and programme management staff in respect of Imphal East district .
These contract employees staged a sit-in at CMO Imphal East complex, Porompat today from 11 am to 2 pm.
He said that some contract employees have been engaged since 2006 while others have been engaged from 2007.Whereas other State Govts have made it a point to regularise their contract employees, the contract employees here have been victimised, Naoba said .
The Association would launch severe forms of agitation including cease-work strike if their demand for service regularisation is not heeded at the earliest, he cautioned.
