Candidate's high-handedness alleged

Three residents of Dangpi village under Saikot assembly constituency have alleged threat and thrashing by the Trinamool Congress candidate of the said assembly segment for not supporting him.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, Khaiminlen Lhungdim (28) s/o Jamlet Lhungdim, Tinkholam Lhungdim (40) w/o Yamkhothang Lhungdim and Thangminlal Touthang (28) s/o Jamkholun Touthang, all from Dangpi village of Churachandpur district claimed they were intimidated and beaten up by the Trinamool nominee of the AC namely Lunkholal Lhungdim and his supporters.
Khaiminlen contended that he received a telephone call from Lunkholal's younger sister Chongboi Lhungdim on February 11 morning at around 11 o'clock asking him for a meeting.
As soon as Khaiminlen reached Lunkhulal's house at Chengkonpang village the candidate allegedly tried to open fire at him, which however did not materialise as Khaiminlen struck at the attacker's forearm.
Lunkhulal, then abused and thrashed Khaiminlen after which he was confined at the candidate's place throughout the night.
Then at around 1 am of February 12 about five supporters of Lunkhulal barged into the homes of Tinkholam and Thangminlal.
The two were also brought to the said candidate's residence at gunpoint, claimed the three adding that the latter duo was also threatened and severely beaten up by Lunkholal himself.
Before the three were locked up at the house, Lunkhulal charged them of voting for his Congress rival and asked the trio to leave dangpi village failing which they would be subjected to more atrocities.
It is also informed that Tinkholam's husband reported the incident at Kumbi police station but till date there is no report of police action against the accused person(s) .
Urging the Government to take up appropriate action against those involved in assaulting them, they also claimed involvement of Jaminlal Lhungdim (30) and Ngamkhulen Lhungdim (25) in the act.
