Imphal, November 08 2020:
The All Zeliangrong Organisation will support the RNYO's call for bandh on NH-37, State Highways and ban on National projects from tomorrow 6 am regarding the proposed tribal museum at Makhel in Senapati district, said the organisation's president Meibon Phaomei.
Speaking to media persons, the AZO president stated that his organisation strongly opposes the proposed construction of the tribal museum at Makhel in Senapati district.
The tribal museum should retain the earlier proposed named "Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighter's Museum" as approved by the Centre and its site should be shifted to Tamenglong district, the birthplace of Rani Gaidinliu, said Phaomei.
The earlier Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister had tried to "shift the site of the museum from Tamenglong to Senapati district and paint history in the wrong light", Phaomei said and appealed the present Minister to "correct the wrongs and set up the museum at Tamenglong district.
All the Zeliangrong people and organisations support RNYO (Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation) on the issue and they will lend all possible support in their proposed stir, Phaomei said.
It may be mentioned that the RNYO had called the bandh on NH-37, State Highways and a ban on all National projects in all Rongmei inhabited areas from 6 am of November 9 onwards.
The organisation had stated that they will not lift the bandh/ban until the Government retains the name "Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighter's Museum" and shift the site to Tamenglong or Noney district.
