President meets youth from Tamenglong, Senapati

The National Integration Tour (NIT) that was flagged off on October 29 by GOC Red Shield Division Maj Gen KK Sinha, is presently touring in Delhi, according to a PIB (DW) statement.
Conveying that the children from Tamenglong and Senapati district had the privilege to meet and interact with the President of India Dr Pranab Mukherjee, the statement said that the President, in his interaction with the youth, expressed that he was very happy to meet the children from Manipur and particularly from the remote districts of Tamenglong and Senapati.
The President said that he had visited Tamenglong and Senapati in the early 1970s and conveyed that Manipur is an important State of the country that has a rich heritage and culture.
Noting that Manipur has done exceptionally well in the field of sports, the President also had extended his appreciation to MC Mary kom and other Olympians who had done the country proud in the latest Olympic events.
The president apprised the children that the people of Manipur are excelling in all fields and are doing the nation proud.
He advised the children that they should pick up good things from all parts of the country and implement them in their state.
Dr Pranab Mukherjee also extended his compliments to the Army for such initiative of integrating the remote region of the country with the mainland and expressed that such noble ventures will help the children to broaden their horizon.
The touring team is scheduled to visit prominent historical places of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra in the next 15 days.
The children have until now had the opportunity to visit Qutab Minar, India Gate, Parliament and Rajpath, the statement added.
