Salam Anil Kumar of Manipur is today on the verge of becoming an internationally acclaimed artist in the field of Fine Arts.
After numerous solo-exhibitions held in India and Nepal he is now being sought after by buyers from abroad.
Of all his solo exhibitions held the Kolkata exhibitions was the most successful one.
The world-wide circulated tourism magazine "Safari India" published from New Delhi has given an extensive and comprehensive coverage in its November 2003 issue.
The magazine has said that Salam Anil Kumar could express spiritualism in his works which only few could really do it.
The magazine continues to lavishly award Salam Anil Kumar by saying that the artist from Manipur had already "found pride in several reputed places in India and abroad".
Spiritualism or a deep philosophy has been the main theme of all the works of Salam Anil Kumar.
His latest solo-exhibition held at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts at Cathedral Road in Kolkata from Jan 15 to 21 this year had buoyed the artist to the extent that today Anil Kumar is armed with full of self confidence.
His works in that exhibition were sold like hot cakes.
Out of the total of 35 paintings exhibited, 31 were sold of which the Academy hall manager was compelled to say that "this is a rare phenomenon".
The likes of yester-year Bollywood film actress Moon Moon Sen and some famous NRIs were the clients of Salam Anil Kumar in the Kolkata exhibition.
Earlier the artist from Manipur had also held solo-exhibitions in Nepal and other places.
Mention may be made Anil Kumar had also reviewed a school book of art for a Japanese education board few years ago.
Kumar had been invited by some embassies of European countries for holding solo-exhibition.
His paintings range from some few thousand rupees to Rs.50,000 or more.
