Even as many localities in the four valley districts are still inundated with flood water, various individuals and organisations have extended relief materials to affected people.
MLA Nandakishore (Tayai), Commissioner AK Khan, social worker L Panit, Md Amin Shah, P Gailingpung, P Manglem and Sheikh Noorul provided relief materials and monetary aid to the villagers of Keikhu Kabui village.
Moirang A/C MLA M Prithviraj, Bishunpur DC, SDO Ng Roben and BCI Kokilkon Leikai provided rice, dal, kerosene, edible oil and sugar to the villagers who are taking shelter at the relief camp opened at Kokilkon mandap.
Former Minister Ningthoujam Bihari distributed 4 kg each of rice to around 400 flood affected families of Porompat and Kongpal Kongkham Leikai.
Social worker N Itomba Meetei also distributed kerosene, bleaching powder and alum to flood affected people of Arapti Awang Leikai, Urup Awang Leikai, Urup Makha Leikai, Arapti Mamang Leikai, Arapti Komla Ingkhol, Tonjam Kolup, and Litan Wangma Mayanglabam Kolup.
Kshetrigao Zila Parishad Member Tarip Rahman provided earth excavator and tipper trucks to control overflowed flood water and repair of river brink at Naharup Awang Leikai.
People and social workers from neighbouring localities and Thongju A/C also extended help in the said work.
Nongpok Lamjing Naharol, Naharup Awang Leikai however decried local MLA Thangjam Nadakishore (Tayai), IFCD EE Ch Ranbir and his staff for not extending necessary assistance at the time people's woes.
Khundrakpam A/C MLA and Speaker in Charge Thokchom Lokeshwor Singh distributed 10 kg each of rice to 135 flood affected households of Haraorou village.
Wabagai A/C MLA Usham Deven also distributed flood relief materials to the people of Khelakhong.
Minister N Loken, who is also the MLA of Nambol A/C provided rice, pulses, candle, mosquito repellent coils to flood affected people of Nambol Kongkham Awang, Kongkham Mayai and Makha, Sabal Leikai and Maibam Naorem.
Meanwhile, the relief camp opened by Threatened Indigenous People's Society (TIPS) Manipur at its office has been closed from this evening.
A press release of the social body said that around 300 people of New Lambulane, Wangkhei Khunou, New Checkon and other localities took shelter at the camp.
It also urged the Government to provide necessary relief materials to the affected people.
Meanwhile, a press release of MPP Youth Front said that it has started inspection of flood affected areas from today.
It urged the Government to extend assistance to the people instead of playing politics.
