Mirabai urges womenfolk to work for peace

Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai Devi has asserted that only concerted effort by the womenfolk could maintain peace and spur development in Moreh sub-division where various communities settle.
Speaking to participants of an awareness programme for women held at Moreh Trade Centre this morning as the chief guest, Minister Mirabai conveyed that as Moreh is one of the most important trade centres for india, Manipur in particular, development of the border town is an essential component to reap benefits of growing international trade and commerce.
As implementation of development works could be possible only when a conducive environment prevails, it is the bounden duty of the womenfolk to ensure peace in the region, she said while suggesting that there is need for constant deliberations among the womenfolk to get acquainted with various welfare programme being initiated by the Social Welfare under the Government of Manipur for the women and children.
Seeking cooperation of the people to enable the Department effectively and purposefully implement welfare programmes for the women and children, Mirabai also called upon the women folk to either contact her personally or department officials for the latest information about welfare programmes of the Department.
The awareness programme organised under the sponsorship of Manipur State Women's Development Corporation was also attended by Tengnoupal assembly constituency MLA DK Korungthang and representatives of Moreh-based Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup and Kha Nongpok Nupi Apunba Lup.
