Many condemn killing of Athuan Abonmai

Imphal, September 27 2021: IPSA, ACOAM Lup, PANDM, IPAK, Kanglamei, KIL, CLK and KSA condemned the brutal killing of Zeliangrong Baudi leader Athuan Abonmai on September 22 .

In a joint statement issued today, the CSOs bestowed the title of 'Messiah of Peace & Unity' to the late public leader and said Athuan Abonmai was one of the selfless leaders who was very much vocal in establishing peace and harmony amongst various communities of the State.

The members of the CSOs paid a candle light tribute to the portrait of late Athuan Abonmai at Haipou Jadonang Park in Keishampat and extended support to the JAC in the fight to bring justice.

Janata Dal United (JDU) also condemned the brutal killing of Zeliangrong Baudi leader Athuan Abonmai and has raised the call for a new Home Minister.

Hangkhanpao Taithul, state president, JDU said this at a press conference held yesterday at JDU office in New Checkon and added that the unfortunate event is a prime example that the Chief Minister has failed to perform his duties effectively.

He also demanded that the Chief Minister should give up the post of Home Minister as the brutal murder of Athuan Abonmai is a result of the failure of security set up.

Strongly denouncing the cold blooded murder of Athuan Abonmai, Kabui Union Manipur demanded stringent punishments for all those involved in the crime.

In a press release, the Union stated that the State has lost an eminent leader who strongly advocated the idea of a unified Manipur.
