After its establishment in 2007 in the district, Kendriya Vidhyalaya (KVS), Ukhrul has been functioning without a permanent school building due to the State Government's alleged negligence, reports our correspondent.
At present, students of KVS, Ukhrul are staying at a temporary allotted building of ITI Women's Hostel, Ukhrul.
Speaking to media persons today at Phungreitang, the Parents Support Group (PSG) of KVS, Ukhrul expressed strong resentment over the deprivation of proper school building and alleged the State Government of neglecting the basic educational rights of the students.
The group said that the Deputy Commissioner of KVS, Silchar has informed about the State Government's share for the construction of basic facilities like water supply, electricity and construction of approach road since KVS alone cannot incur the expenses.
Chairman of PSG, Ukhrul Mahomi asserted that all official related procedures for the construction work have completed yet the State Government has been delaying in executing the project.
PSG has been repeatedly submitting memorandums since 2015 to the State Government to consider the necessity of constructing a school building.
It was also found that additional allocation of fund was approved only for Sainik School and Public school, Imphal while the institutes located in Tamenglong and Ukhrul were left out.
Y Khaleng, PSG member lamented the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government and said that rural areas have always been neglected in terms of developmental works.
The Parents Support Group also said that it will collaborate with all the local organisations and resort to all forms of democratic agitation until the State Government provides basic educational facilities.
