MLA pitches for more fund for education

High-lighting indispensability of education for a society to achieve all-round progress, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC MLA RK Anand suggested that the Government of Manipur increase budgetary allocation for further development of education.
Speaking as the special guest at a felicitation programme of meritorious stu- dents of All Juniors' Associated Dedicators' (AZAD) English School, Meitram today, RK Anand said that modern day educational needs entail sufficient fund provision by the Government in order to ensure that students of Manipur do not lag behind their counter-parts.
Noting significant changes in the education sector in the last 10 years, he suggested that the Government initiate all possible to measures to ensure there is no shortage of fund while the general public contribute their mite in promoting quality education as such an important task should not be left to the Government alone.
Despite Manipuri students making a mark in academic excellence the fact that private tuition is becoming a dominating trend is disheartening, observed the MLA and expressed that emphasis should be on nurturing natural talents and exploring potential of the students in order to make them compete with the best in the world.
In his brief statement as the chief guest, Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya conveyed that the Government is committed to development of the education sector and is not only concentrating on implementation of welfare projects.
Along with presentation of Laishram Shanti Memorial Award to HSLC 2013 15th position holder Oinam Milan-chand, the dignitaries also distributed gifts students of the school who scored high marks and passed in first division in the same examina- tion.The event was presided by AZAD English School Governing Body president S Jamenjoy.
