Hill roads

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today dwelt on the need to maintain better emotional connectivity between the hill and valley.
Gaikhangam said that road connectivity is very important but emotional connectivity among the people of the State is more important for the betterment of the State.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a two-day workshop on Road Connectivity of Hill Districts organised by Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong.
The programme was attended amongst others by Francis Ngajokpa, Minister of RD&PR and Dr Kh Ratankumar, Minister of Works & Transport as the president and guest of honour respectively.
The Dy CM said that larger bulk of development schemes and programmes are sanctioned for the hills while urging the people to maintain mutual respect and love.
Francis Ngajokpa stressed on the need to extend cooperation and sincerity for better connectivity.
Highlighting the importance of road connectivity, Dr Kh Ratankumar said the State collapsed when connectivity is cut off as it often happens when there is blockade along the highways.
Though the State is resource crunch, the people should work in harmony for its betterment.
