Imphal, April 03 2012:
Accusing the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) of allotting only 7.5 percent reservation quota for ST in the ongoing process to recruit some posts in the institute, a powerful tribal rights body has threatened to launch a stir if the quota reservation anomaly is not rectified.
A few days back the written test for recruiting 71 posts of staff nurse and 11 lower division clerks was held at the institute's complex.
A complaint on the quota dispute was submitted by the Movement for Tribal People's Rights, Manipur (MTPMR), to Rims Director and copies of the same were sent to Union Health and Family Welfare Minister and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today.
The complaint said that the reservation quota percentage for ST should be 27 as per Central Government office memorandum dated December 29, 1993 and not 7.5 as notified
by RIMS.
He threatened that the MTPMR would be constrained to launch various forms of agitation if the reservation anomaly for ST category is not rectified at the earliest and before the results of the written test for the posts are declared.
