DBS protests monetary demand

Decrying the monetary demand served in name of the proscribed PREPAK (Progressive), students of Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong took out a protest rally in and around Sangakpham Bazar area today.
Some people who identified themselves as members of the proscribed PREPAK (Progressive) reportedly served a demand note of Rs 2 lakh on the headmaster of the school.
The students took out the rally in protest against the monetary demand.
In this connection, headmaster of the school, Indibushan informed that around one and half months back, two unknown youths came looking for him at the school while he was not present in his office room.
A week after that, two women came to the school and asked for his telephone number.
Here again, he could not meet the women.
Around a week back, two unknown youths again came to the school looking for him but he could not meet them.
However, in the latest visit, a demand note of Rs 2 lakhs was left at his house giving September 2 as the deadline for meeting the demand, Indibushan informed, adding that he is just a headmaster of Don Bosco School and does not have any involvement in the financial matters of running the school.
The financial matters are dealt with by the school management body.
Meanwhile, a hand grenade was found lying inside the office complex of Zonal Education Officer at Porompat, close to the district headquarters of Imphal East at around 5.30 pm today.
The unexploded hand grenade was picked up by the explosive experts of the State Police and later detonated safely at a nearby area.
The reason for planting the bomb is not known.
