High Court asks Govt stand on NHs

Imphal, September 01 2011:
The Guwahati High Court Imphal Bench directed the State Government to place the initiatives taken up by the Government to deal the ongoing agitations on the two NHs by the SHDDC since August 1 last.
A double bench comprising of Justice T Vaiphei and Justice Mutum Binoykumar asked the State Government's initiatives on the two taional highways.
The Court order was announced today in response to a PIL filed by social activist RK Joysana.
The PIL filed through Advocate, M Hemchandra aired the grievances encountered byt the general public of the State due to the indefinite blockade on the highways.
The HC ordered the State Government to present by September 5, the steps taken up by the State Government to deal with the agitations.
The Union Home Secretary, State Chief Secretary, DGP, Secretary Union Road Transport & Highways, IGP( LO), IGP (Intilegence), CO of the BRO, SHDC president and SHDC are the parties of the respondents.
