Imphal, April 18:
In case the inflated prices of essential prices are not reduced for the sake of the poorer sections of the people, the CPI would be launching more intense protest movements, said CPI State unit secretary Langol Iboyaima.
He was speaking at protest sitting venues of Kakching and Thoubal.
The protest sittings were staged against inflation in the country.
Iboyaima confided that the CPI State unit has been restraining itself from taking up strong protest movements in Manipur for it is also a part of the SPF Government.
Nevertheless, if the inflation in prices of essential commodities is not brought down, the political outfit will launch strong protest movements together with the people, he stated.
Stating that being a part of the coalition Government is not the primary priority of the CPI, the State Secretary claimed that what concerns the party most is the welfare of the people.
The party would walk out from the coalition Government as and when the people asked to do so.
The CPI joined the coalition Government under the Common Minimum Programme, he added.
Similar protest sittings against inflation were also staged at Moirang Lamkhai and Nambol in Bishnupur district.
