Imphal, February 03, 2012:
All Manipur Students' Guardians' Organisation (AMSGO) has contended that the quality of the papers used for printing the text books prescribed by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) are sub-standard.
Addressing a press conference at its Palace Compound office today, Advisor of AMSGO N Tomba pointed out that it is only the cover of the text books prescribed by BSEM which is attractive and the quality of the paper used for printing these text books is sub-standard that the text books do not last for two academic sessions.
This has given added financial burden to many families in the state.
Expressing concern over commodification of anything that is related to education of children in Manipur by the private school authorities, Tomba contended that charging Rs 100 from every student for taking part in the draw of lot for admission is unreasonable.
This is in addition to the charges levied over admission form and prospectus, he pointed out, adding that selling school uniforms and stationary items with name and logo of the school printed and doubling the price is despicable.
