Farmers' training held at Kangpokpi

A one-day training programme on banana and lemon cultivation was organised today at Town Hall, Kangpokpi by Deputy Director (Horticulture and Soil Conservation), Kangpokpi under HMNEH 2012-13, department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur.
The inaugural function of the training programme was graced by Chairman of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Chonkam Kipgen; PA of Kangpokpi MLA, N Sehjalen Gangte and Deputy Director (H&SC), Kangpokpi, Kh Lokendra Singh as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Chonkam Kipgen anticipated that the large scale cultivation of banana and lemon would enhance the economic condition of the people while exuding confidence that the training programme would go a long way in motivating the people to grow banana and lemon for livelihood security.
N Sehjalen Gangte emphasised on the need to employ up-to-date technologies in cultivation of horticulture crops like banana and lemon.
Saplings of lemon and other aids like Rich Rutter AH Fertilizers, sprayers and other types of fertilizer were distributed to the farmers during the training programme.
Around 156 farmers participated in the training programme.
A Birendra, Farm Manager, H&SC, Kangpokpi spoke as the resource person in the technical session.
