Imphal, December 22 2012:
Referring to the recent case of molesting and assaulting a film actress by one cadre of NSCN-IM and further alleging that the Congress Government is unable to govern the State, MPP has sought immediate intervention of the Governor.
Speaking to media persons at MPP office today, MPP advisor O Joy while alleging that the Congress Government is unable to maintain law and order in the State, demanded resignation of the incumbent Government.
He questioned if police have any moral right to thrash film actors and artistes in front of the Chief Minister's office who were only demanding punishment of accused Livingstone.
He pointed out that police acted like spineless creatures when a Minister created quite a ruckus at the Sangai Express and also during the recent musical concert at Chandel district headquarters where a film actress was molested and two others fired at by an outlaw.
The ongoing indefinite strike is solely based on one particular demand which is punishment of the accused in a befitting manner.
Noting that the demand is justified, Joy called upon all the people to join the protest movement.
Instead of waiting for the issue to aggravate, the Government should book and punish the rogue NSCN-IM cadre at the earliest.
Even though the Chandel outrage was a major issue, the Government's reply to the issue as given in the State Assembly was rather ridiculous.
The reply was not a suo moto statement though it deserved to be one.
Pointing out that there is a monitoring cell to monitor movement and activities of NSCN-IM, the monitoring cell should have full knowledge from where the rogue NSCN-IM cadre and his gun came.
He also questioned whether Home Minister Gaikhangam needed to issue an order to round up the accused.
Further questioning if the Home Minister's order to nab a cadre of NSCN-IM which is under a process of political dialogue is applicable or not, Joy alleged that tendency of the State as well as the Centre to hush up the matter of molesting a film actress in the name of peace talk was exposed during the recent Assembly session.
