Unlike previous North East Trade Expos organized by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern States (DoNER) at the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Exhibition Ground, Okhla Industrial Estate here, the ongoing fifth North East Trade Expo is attracting a large crowd because of the presence of unique products from the entrepreneurs of Manipur.
The officer-in charge of the Manipur Stalls Ksh Shantakumar from the Directorate of Commerce and Industries said that the average daily sale proceed of the stalls of Manipur ranged from Rs 8000 to Rs 10,000.Food products like passion fruit juice, organic turmeric and ginger powders, mushroom and handicrafts products like cane and bamboo items, dry flowers, woodcrafts were centre of attraction of the visitors.
Twenty seven industrial units from Manipur were participating in the Expo which commenced from February 8 and would continue till February 18.Out of the 27 units, 12 units are from Imphal West district, 11 from Imphal East District and one each from Ukhrul, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Senapati districts.
Participants from Imphal West District were Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai Cooperative Societies exhibiting handloom and handicrafts items; Liwa Lambi CS of Liwa Lambi, Romesh Handloom Industries of Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai; Kd Philantrophy-5 of Nagamapal; Radhamani Handicrafts Centre of Keisamthong Laisom Leirak; Dhamen Handicrafts Centre of Kwakeithel, Soibam Leikai Handicrafts; Laishram Handicrafts of Lalambung Makhong; Malom Cooperative Society, Symbiotics Industries of Mongsangei Lai Leirak; Lainingthou Silk and Wool Reeling and Weaving WCS of Nagamapal Paonam Leikai; Eikhei Ningthou Women Weavers & Artisans Co-operative Society Ltd of Malom and Women Worth Organisation of Nagamapal Participant from Imphal East Districts were Sorojini Handloom Industries of Kongba; Kongba Meirombi WCS Ltd of Kongba Kshetri Leikai; Bamdev Wood Carving and Handicrafts Centre of Brahmapur Lalji Lakpa Leirak; Inakhunbi Handlooms of Kongba; Meira Foods of Brahmapur Aribam Leikai; Akhom Handicrafts of Kongba Nandeibam Leikai; People Network Trust of Kongba Laishram Leikai; Craft Social Development Organisation of Kongba Bazar, Nilakanta Kouna Crafts of Wangkhei Tokpam Leikai (Kouna); Citizen's Welfare Association of Heingang; and Resource Mobilisation Centre of Heingang.
Other Participants were Shimray Handloom from Ukhrul, Loidang Embroidery from Thoubal district, Ruth Dry Flower making Unit of Renkai Cemetery Road from Churachandpur and Exotic Juices Ltd of Punanamei , Mao (Concentrated Fruit Juice) from Senapati District.
