PM to lay sports varsity foundation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting the State to lay the foundation stone of National Sports University after the ongoing Parliament session, according to a press release issued by the Chief Minister ' s Secretariat.
In an exclusive interview given to DD News, New Delhi in his office chamber today, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren stated, "We are very fortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has gifted us a National Sports University, and I've been informed over the phone by the Prime Minister's Office that Modiji will visit Manipur to lay the foundation stone of National Sports University after the ongoing Parliament session" .
Responding to a query on Churachandpur issue, the Chief Minister maintained that the present State Government has held two rounds of talk with the JAC Against Anti-Tribal Bills and the matter would be settled soon.
Stating that Manipur is like a mini-India and the Government cannot favour any community or religion to resolve an issue, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the State Government and the JAC would arrive at an understanding soon Regarding the mass recruitment drive carried out by the last Congress Government, Biren stated that an independent body would probe whether there were irregularities in the recruitment process.
He added that the appointments made in contravention of rules and regulations would be cancelled as per the recruitment rules of the State Government.
Replying to a question on how to make Manipur a bandh/blockade-free State, Biren contended that all the problems and grievances would be sorted out on the negotiating table before people's demands/grievances result in imposition of bandhs or blockades.
As a response to a query regarding the initiatives being taken up for Highway Protection Force, the Chief Minister conveyed that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had approved setting up of four IRB battalions in the State to man the highways as Highway Protection Force.
