Imphal, April 12 2017:
In connection with the ongoing week-long celebration of 37th foundation day of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit, birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar was held at the party's office at Nityaipat Chuthek here today.
Organised by BJP State unit OBC Morcha, the occasion was graced by president of BJP State unit, K Bhabananda as chief guest; president of State OBC Morcha, S Liben as president; Parliamentary Secretary (IFCD) L Rameshwor; State general secretary, N Nimbus; treasurer Robin Blackie and State secrertary (OBC Morcha In-Charge), Salam Ulka Devi as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhabananda expressed happiness on the formation of BJP-led coalition Government in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren.
He said that BJP's success in the last Assembly election was due to the relentless efforts made by the party workers.
The State BJP president asserted that the gap between the hills and valley has been bridged with the CM's visit to Ukhrul district yesterday.
There will be notable changes and good governance especially in the hills following the visit, he observed.
Maintaining that the visit was a big success for the newly formed Government, Bhabananda said that the Government cannot give good governance if there is animosity amongst the different communities.
He noted that failure of the State in bringing considerable progress for a long time is due to the lack of political and economic development and accused the then Congress Government in the State of favouring only their acquaintances and dear ones during their long rule.
Except defection of some workers of the party, there is no internal feud in BJP State unit, he claimed.
He added that every worker of the party should shoulder responsibility to strengthen the party further.
Informing that there are 4.67 lakh workers in BJP State unit, he exhorted the party workers to put in more efforts to increase the number of workers to 6 lakh before the Lok Sabha election to be held in 2019 .
Rameshwor urged the party to execute development programmes accordingly as the people have complete faith in the political party.
He appealed to OBC Morcha of the party to give suggestions and ideas about any lapse on the part of the Government and assured that all possible help will be extended from his side to work programmes taken up by OBC Morcha.
