Imphal, June 11 2016 :
The proposed meeting between All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) leaders and the Manipur Government representatives today has been postponed to June 16, the union informed.
Finance secretary of All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM), Andria Sinruwng told Newmai News Network, "We've learnt that the concerned Government departments are working hard to give our long-pending charter of demands and hence the meeting has been rescheduled by the Government" .
The union leader, however, warned of launching agitation if the Government defers the date of the rescheduled talks again.
Sinruwng expressed displeasure over the frequent extension of dates with regard to selection tests of SSA, RMSA and TET.
He alleged that the tests have been turned into a joke by the Directorate of Education (S).
"Most importantly, the Government and the union have already agreed in principle to take up as one-time measure pertaining to stop making Teachers' Eligibility Test compulsory for RMSA and SSA," he reminded.
Sinruwng observed that everything will go without a hitch if there are separate directorates for the hills and valley.
"Every issue could be solved." He appealed to the public not to rely on Government notification and orders until all pending issues are amicably settled.
The charter of demands of the union include separate State Commission for ST under Article 338 A of the Indian Constitution, issuance of offer forms to 217 Higher Secondary lecturers recommended by MPSC, declaration of the result of 280 Assistant Professors conducted under MPSC, B Ed centres in the hills, regularisation of Adhoc Teachers, tribal quota in Manipur Legislative Assembly, bifurcation of power to Additional Director Hills Education (s) and transfer of land records.
