Poppy plantations destroyed

In continuation of the drive against illegal poppy plantations under the "War on Drugs" initiative of the State Government, poppy plantations were destroyed yesterday in the districts of Tengnoupal, Chandel, Senapati and Kangpokpi, said a statement of police.
TENGNOUPAL
A combined team of Tengnoupal district police and CDO, NCB, 1st MR, 8th MR, led by Th Krishnatombi, Additional SP (Ops) Tengnoupal and officers consisting of Inspector John Lamkang, OC Tengnoupal, Inspector DK Angrung, OC Machi PS, and under the supervision of Th Vikramjit Singh, SP Tengnoupal destroyed around 35 acres of illicit poppy plantations at the hill range of Bongmol village under Machi PS jurisdiction.
CHANDEL
Another destruction drive was also carried out by a combined team of Chandel district police, NAB, NCB, MPTC and 9th IRB, led by Additional SP Chandel, Shankerjit Loitongbam, MPS under the supervision of SP Chandel, MPS, N Madhunimai at Govok hill range, 15 kms from Chakpikarong PS.
The combined team destroyed around 30 acres of illegal poppy plantations during the drive.
KANGPOKPI
A combined team of Imphal East district police and NAB led by SDPO Lamlai, Ksh Ravikumar Singh, IPS along with OC Sagolmang.
2nd OC NAB and 2nd OC Narcotic Cell Imphal East, destroyed around 40 acres of illegal poppy plantations at Kongba Maru hills under the jurisdiction of Sagolmang PS, Saikul Subdivision of Kangpokpi district.
