Security forces have arrested ten activists of different armed groups from various places of the State.
the apprehended persons include six members of the KCP, three PREPAK and one NSCN (IM) organisations with three out of the six KCP activists said to be female members of outfit.
Significantly, the NSCN (IM) cadre is said to have been arrested after a brief shoot-out with a team of Senapati district police at around the same time when the Union Home secretary GK Pillai are attending a development seminar held yesterday at the district headquarters.
As per information received here, a team of Senapati district police moved in on being informed of some NSCN (IM) activists holding up a tourist bus for extortion close to the district headquarters.
gun-shots were exchanged from both the side of the security force and the suspected members of the rebel group, currently observing ceasefire with the Government of India, as the police team inched towards the spot.
After cessation of firing, the police team managed to apprehend one of the IM men identified as Ningthi Kaping (25) of Ukhrul district, claimed SP (Senapati) Nishit Kumar Ujjwal.
The tourist bus (MN01/1781) belonging to Imphal Rajdhani travel agency was reportedly halted for extortion purpose by the NSCN (IM) activists at near Senapati District Council office at about 10.30 am yesterday while on its return to Imphal from guwahati.
The arrested Ningthi has been remanded to police custody after he was produced before a court today.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, three members of the KCP were hauled from Yurengbam area where troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry conducted search operation based on specific information.
The three arrested persons have been identified as Abaom Bibo Singh (33) s/o manglem Singh, Thoiba Singh (37) s/o Kulabidhu Singh and Achom Denamani Singh (39) s/o Manal Singh.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East district police commando arrested three cadres of the KCP organisation from Checkon at around 1.30 pm of July 21, said a statement issued by SP (IE) Th Radheshyam Singh.
Informing that the trio had disclosed of joining the banned outfit in March this year through one S/S district commander Mangangleima of KCP and worked under the same individual in extortion of money from general public, the SP identified the three women cadres as Chungkham Bina devi (34) d/o Ch Chandramani Singh of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai near Mohon Motors, Alice Jajo (43) w/o Ningchui Jajo of Tamaching and Khuraijam Taruni Devi (28) w/o Kh Jugin Singh of Wangoo Sabal mamang.
On the otherhand, Sr SP (IW) in a release issued today said two live rounds of AK ammunition and three mobile phone handsets have been recovered from the three PREPAK activists, who were apprehended on August 21 after disclosures by one another.
A combined team of district police commandos and troops of 12 maratha Light Infantry had apprehended the three with the first captive identified as Taorem Manglemchandra alias Ibungo alias Boy (28) s/o T Lokhon Singh of Kodompokpi Maning Khongnang Makhong nabbed from Ishok Chingphu at about 1 pm.

Based on further verification, another PREPAK activist namely Sanjenbam Herojit alias Itombi (24) s/o S Babudhon of Haorang Khunou Mamang Leikai was picked up from Maklang, the Sr SP maintained.
Based on interrogation another of the outfit's activist identified as Loukham Dilip (45) s/o (L) Mani Singh of Sagolband Loukhram Leirak was arrested from Keishamthong, added the police statement.
Scores of different insurgent groups have been operating in the hills and valley of the State.
Out of them majority of the Kuki UG outfits have signed Suspension of Operation pact with the Government.
