Imphal, April 30:
The rice quota for the month of April meant for distribution among the poor people of Lamlai Assembly Constituency which had been not able to be lifted following strong pressured from one underground organisation for providing 80 percent of the quota was today lifted from the FCI Godown at Sangaiprou in six trucks under the direct supervision of Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat who is also the elected representative of the said Constituency.
The total rice quota of the Constituency to be lifted from the godown for the month of April is 537.23 quintal under BPL and 328.50 quintal under AAY.
However, so long the rice quota of the Constituency has not been able to lift following the demand of the underground organisation in question to hand over 80 percent of the rice quota.
Talking to some mediapersons at the time of lifting the rice from the Sangaiprou quota, Minister Parijat said that demanding 80 percent of the rice quota and directing to distribute the remaining 20 percent to the poor people is like denying their daily meal.
So the Govt would never cow down to such threats.
The Minister assured that the lifted rice quota would be kept at the FCI godown located at Napetpalli of Lamlai for Imphal East district and security personnel would be pressed into duty to safeguard the and necessary arrangements would be made very soon to distribute the rice to the people through their respective agents.
