Imphal, September 14 2012:
For the just concluded Panchayat election, re-poll would be held in eight polling stations tomorrow.
As for the polling stations where no voters came out or no candidates contested, they would be left without representatives for the time being.
Speaking to media persons at her office this afternoon, State Election Commission Secretary Th Chitra said that re-poll was necessitated at these eight polling stations due to electoral malpractices like booth capturing and destruction of polling material yesterday.
Re-poll would be held in polling station no 12/9/10 Phunal Maring Junior High School and polling station no 17/24/1 Andro Khunou UJB School in Imphal East district, polling station no 3/9/1 Yengkhom Leirak Community Hall, polling station no 12/8/4 Nambul Mapal High School in Imphal West district, polling station no 16/4/1 Wangjing Khunou LP School in Thoubal district, polling station no 6/12/1 Phubala High School, polling station no 9/6/4 Thanga Shamukol Primary School and polling station no 9/6/10 Thanga Salam Government High School in Bishnupur district.

Re-poll at Thanga Salam Government High School would be only for Zilla Parishad candidates.
Imphal East polling stationsMatakhong, Aisang Nepali, Hangoipat, Maken Ngulrou Awang Leikai, Maken Ngulrou Mayai Leikai and Maken Ngulrou Makha Leikai which recorded zero voter turnout yesterday would be left without any representative for the time being.
Likewise, polling station number 1/2/2 Nongada where not a single vote was cast for Ward Member candidates would be left without any Member.
In the same manner, there would be no re-poll in 13 polling stations of Imphal East and Thoubal districts where not a single candidate contested for the post of Ward Member, Chitra said.
Strangely, Sunurok Pangal and Hongbiband were recognised as polling stations even though they are uninhabited.
Yesterday's polling recorded over 85 per cent and it was by and large peaceful except for some minor incidents.
Necessary preparations for counting votes at district headquarters have been already completed, claimed the Secretary.
Notably, one Zilla Parishad Member, one Pradhan and 97 Ward Members have been already elected unopposed.
