Road mishap kills woman along NH-2

Kangpokpi, January 07 2020: A woman was killed while another was grievously injured in a road mishap at Daili village along NH-2 at around 1.30 pm today.

The deceased woman identified as Eloni (27) from Karinamei, Senapati district came to Daili village for attending a wedding ceremony to be held tomorrow while the injured also from Daili village was identified as Kajiini (45) wife of Raju.

The accident happened when the two women coming towards Kangpokpi side along the Highway were hit by a DI Tata bearing Regd No NL07 A 8647 .

The driver of the vehicle was immediately taken to Kangpokpi police station by the police personnel while the injured victim was taken to Kangpokpi district hospital for treatment and the body recovered by the Kangpokpi police.

Daili villagers provided a humanitarian service to the victims of the accident while Kangpokpi Town Committee wrapped a traditional shawl on behalf of the people of Kangpokpi to show their solidarity and condolences to the deceased victim and her family.

A number of people have been killed in road mishaps along the said highway since New Year day in Kangpokpi district.

More than two young precious lives have already been claimed in road mishaps at Keithelmanbi since New Year and many others injured.
