Diphu, October 17 (NNN):
The Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) 48-hour bandh severely affected movement of goods and people on the highways connecting the States of Nagaland and Manipur.
The bandh which began from 5 am this morning paralysed normal life in various towns located along the Assam-Nagaland border where the Dimasa community dominates.
Mention may be made that a few days ago the DHD had announced its decision to impose a 48-hour "Dimaraji bandh" from 5 am October 17 to 5 am of October 19 in protest against Army atrocities on "innocents" and DHD cadres at various places including Hatikhali, Lumding, Dhansiri and Cachar in Assam.
A statement issued by DHD publicity secretary, Daoraja Dimasa to Newmai News Network in Diphu (Assam), said the decision to impose the bandh was taken at an emergency meeting held on Friday evening at Haflong in which senior DHD leaders expressed deep concern over the ongoing Army atrocities on the DHD cadres and innocent people of Dimaraji.
