The State Cabinet, in a meeting held today, has decided to hand over the controversial murder cases of Irom Roger and Board of Secondary Education Manipur Chairman Dr N Kunjabihari to the CBI.
A senior Cabinet Minister informed that the Cabinet meeting after taking due note of the people's wish and also to ensure that justice is done in the murder case of Irom Roger, decided to hand over the case to the CBI.
It is reported that Minister Biren himself was also present in the Cabinet meeting.
The Police Department, taking due cognizance of the reported involvement of Minister Biren's son in the murder case of Roger suggested that the case be handed over to the CBI.
Notably, five other persons reportedly involved in the murder case have been sent to judicial custody.
The Cabinet meeting further resolved to hand over the murder case of BSEM Chairman Dr N Kunjabihari to the CBI.
Dr Kunjabihari was shot dead inside his office on January 11 this year.

In view of the implementation of the Right to Education Act, the meeting also agreed on upgrading 364 primary schools under District Councils to upper primary schools, 138 lower primary schools under School Education Department to primary schools and one primary school to upper primary school.
The State Cabinet has also given its consent to set up a separate directorate for hills as against Tiribal Development and Hills combined together at present.
It further approved recruitment for five guidance coordinator/master teachers for RMSA on contract basis as well as recruitment of one coach for rowing, kayaking and canoeing and wrestling under Sports Department.
