Imphal, March 28 2011:
Differences have surfaced on the demand of removal of 11 AR from the Zeliangrong inhabited areas when the Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), in a statement signed by its general secretary, K Poushinglung, clarified that demanding removal of the AR was not the decision of the people and the social organisation.
Taking out 11 AR from Zeliangrong inhabited areas may have been the desire of the students union and Zeliangrong Baudi.
But ZU (AMN) considers the proper authority to decide the matter are the signatories of the "Indo-Naga cease fire (namely NSCN/GPRN and GoI)", the statement said adding that the concerned parties should consider to not disturb the ongoing peace talks.
The March 13, 2011, incident at Tamenglong HQs was unfortunate the statement said observing that the tension between the AR and public was out of misunderstanding of the ground rules of the ceasefire.
The ZU (AMN) said the arrest of a NSCN(IM) cadre by the AR resulted from misunderstanding of the grounds rules of the ceasefire.
The security forces had alleged that the arrested cadre had violated the ground rules of the ceasefire by issuing demand letters to various government agencies for extorting money.
In this regard, there is the need to make the public understand the ground rules properly, the ZU (AMN) suggested.
While appreciating the local public for returning the gun snatched from the AR personnel during the protest against the arrest of the NSCN (IM) cadre, the statement also acknowledged the patience shown by the CO of 11 AR in dealing with the incident with a cool, calm and matured way to defuse the situation, although he failed to fulfill his assurance of releasing the arrest cadre.
The statement further urged authority concerned not to arrest any one in connection with the said public protest of March 13, 2011 .
