Imphal, July 24 2011:
Ahead of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is likely to visit Manipur in December this year.
A reliable source informed that Dr Manmohan Singh will inaugurate Khuman Lampak Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT), City Convention Centre, Capital Project and the High Court.
Although no definite date has been fixed for the Prime Minister's visit, all preparations have been finalised for the proposed visit.
The Prime Minister may be accompanied by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi during his visit to the State.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has been regularly on field assessments of the ISBT, City Convention Centre, Capital Project and the High Court in order to ensure that all these major projects are completed ahead of the Prime Minister's proposed visit.
The Government has also issued strong instructions to the work agencies to complete all these major projects by December at the latest.
One official of the MS Sree Avantika Contractor India Limited which is currently engaged in construction of ISBT informed The Sangai Express that they have been working hard to hand over the project to the State Government before December although the Government asked to complete the project by December.

Around 70 per cent of the ISBT construction work has been completed.
Once the ongoing work of tubular installation is completed, roofing work would be taken up very shortly.
Being rainy season, road development work cannot be initiated as yet.
The ISBT is being constructed with NEC funding of Rs 24.53 crores.
This amount does not cover the cost of electrical installation, drainage work and sanitary facilities.
Nevertheless, electrical installation work is being undertaken with an understanding that the Government would pay for the additional costs.
Though the State Government has asked the agency to take up the drain construction work too, necessary work order has not been issued yet.
Once the road construction work is completed, construction of parking bay would not take much time.
One major inconvenience in the ISBT construction work is the shortage of power.
Appeals to provide a dedicated power line along with a transformer has fallen into deaf ears.
Nevertheless, the agency is using 12 diesel generators and the work is going on in full swing, added the official.
