Death toll rises by two, total cases reach 15,778

The State's COVID-19 death toll rose by two taking the tally to 118 following the death of one more COVID-19 patient at Churachandpur district hospital and noted singer Laishram Sando at Shija hospital late in the evening today.
Sando (62) was rushed to Shija hospital after he developed complications and all efforts to save him failed, said sources.
The late man was a renowned singer and fronted the once well known group The Phoenix.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, a 53-year old COVID-19 positive man died at Churachandpur district hospital during the last 24 hours.
Significantly the woman who passed away on October 15 is yet to be added to the official tally of deaths due to COVID-19 .
The woman in question here was first rushed to RIMS on October 12, after complaining of acute abdominal pain and she was found positive for the virus on testing.
Thereafter she was shifted to the CCC opened at IIIT Mantripukhri where she passed away.
In the meantime, 315 persons including 30 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, IRL, Thoubal, Noney, Shija Hospital, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tamenglong, Senapati, Babina Diagnostics, CMC, Advance Hospital, Samaritan Hospital and Raj Medicity.
Of the 285 civilians who have been tested positive, 62 belong to Imphal West, 79 to Imphal East, 17 to Thoubal, five to Noney, two to Kangpokpi, 21 to Kakching, one to Ukhrul, one to Chandel, 45 to Tamenglong, 45 to Churachandpur, five to Tengnoupal, one to Senapati and one to Bishnupur.
Barring 17 from Imphal West, the rest 268 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
Meanwhile, 172 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (11), JNIMS (2), RIMS (6), Thoubal (7), Kakching (2), CCC UNACCO (38), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (69), Senapati (4), Chandel (1), RD Wing (22), Sadbhavna (2), Lanva (2), Jiribam (2) and Bishnupur (2) .
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has risen to 15,778 (general population 13,105, Central security personnel 2,673).This figure includes 3748 active cases (general population 3431, Central security personnel 317) and 11,913 discharged cases (general population 9561, Central security personnel 2352).The recovery rate stands at 75.50 per cent.
Further, out of 216 samples tested today at JNIMS, 52 were found infected by COVID-19 .
Another 31 people were also found positive at Tamenglong today and they include 26 security personnel.
At Imphal West 113 were found positive according to a late report reaching the press and they include nine from Singjamei Chinga Makha, 13 from the residence of MLA of Patsoi AC at Taobungkhok, five from Mayang Imphal
Konchak and 14 from Monsangei.
