Dr Lamtingthang, M Hemanta, S Joy file nomination papers MPCC intensifies campaign for bypolls

With the announcement of four candidates by the AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik on Saturday for contesting the ensuing by-elections, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee launched massive campaigns in all Assembly Constituencies of 22-Wangoi, 30-Lilong, 34-Wangjing-Tentha and 5I-Saitu.Salam Joy Singh will contest the bypolls from Wangoi AC, Md Azziul Haque Khan from Lilong while Moirangthem Hemanta Singh and Dr Lamtingthang Haokip will contest from Wangjing Tentha and Saitu Constituencies respectively.
A joint meeting of the INC workers of 40 polling stations of Wangoi Assembly Constituency with the public was held Saturday, October 17 night at Snowland complex, Samurou Naorem.
Govindas Konthoujam, chief whip of Congress Legislative Party, N Loken, MLA, K Ranjit, MLA, Fajur Rahim, MLA, Shyamjai, PCC member of Wangoi Constituency and office bearers of the MPCC attended the meeting and appealed people to elect Congress candidate Salam Joy in the by-election to be held on November 7.Salam Joy expressed his dissatisfaction over alleged non-distribution of ration cards to the National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiaries of Wangoi Assembly Constituency and assured the people to provide the benefit of NFSA after winning the election.
On Friday, a large number of Congress workers of around 700, in separate groups conducted house campaign in the areas under 22/1 Wakching Khulen (Govindgram), 22/2 Irom Meijrao Maning Leikai and 22/3 Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai polling stations covering a total number of 2500 electors.
The electors assured the campaigners that they would support Salam Joy Singh wholeheartedly.
Election campaigns like house to house campaigns, camera meetings for Lilong Assembly Constituency has been intensified since yesterday.
A Joint meeting of the Block Congress Committee members and office bearers of MPCC was held yesterday at Lilong BCC office in the presence of the Congress candidate Md Azziul Haque Khan.
PCC member of Lilong Constituency Md Siraj Ahmed and other members of minority department of MPCC attended the meeting.
MLA Okram Surjakumar and former Speaker, MLA Th Lokeshwar joined the election meeting held yesterday at Langathel Khongjom in Wangjing-Tentha Assembly Constituency and campaigned for Moirangthem Hemanta.
Youth and Mahila volunteers of Congress conducted a campaign meeting yesterday at 34/26 Sapam (A) polling station, 34/27 Sapam (A-1) polling station and 34/28 Sapam (B) polling station in Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency for Moirangthem Hemanta.
Dr Lamtingthang Haokip files nomination paper
Dr Lamtingthang Haokip filed his nomination paper this afternoon at DC Office, Kangpokpi.
He was accompanied by Rashad, private secretary to general secretary AICC Bhakta Charan Das in charge of Manipur with the youth teams of MPCC and Saitu Congress Block Committee.
On twitter, Rashad stated, "Dr Lamtingthang, a young and dynamic leader willing to work for change is the candidate from Saitu A/C for Manipur by-election representing INC India along with the members of INC Manipur".
As a part of his nomination speech, Dr Lamtingthang Haokip promised a better change for Saitu.
He said, "I have just filed the nomination paper and I express my heartfelt thanks to our party leaders Smt Sonia Gandhiji and Shree Rahul Gandhiji and all the State leaders.
We will make sure of Congress victory and positive change for Saitu:.
Congress candidate Moirangthem Hemanta for Wangiing Tentha Assembly Constituency filed three nomination papers at DC Office, Thoubal and Salam Joy, candidate for Wangoi Assembly Constituency filed two nomination papers at DC Office, Imphal West at Lamphelpat.
Md Azziul Haque Khan for Lilong Assembly Constituency will file his nomination paper tomorrow.
