Death toll rises to 578 with 16 more, positive cases spike by 677

Till date, there is no sign of the State's COVID-19 graph flattening or declining.
On the contrary, 16 persons succumbed to the virus while 677 people including 12 CAPF personnel were found infected by the contagion during the last 24 hours.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 16 persons died due to COVID-19 at Shija Hospital, Churachandpur district hospital, JNIMS and RIMS.
Of the 16 victims, nine were residents of Imphal West and they were aged 51 (female), 74 (female), 72 (male), 91 (female), 55 (male), 72 (male), 92 (male), 97 (male) and 60 (female) .
The others were aged 63 (female, Churachandpur), 57 (male, Churachandpur), 56 (male, Ukhrul), 63 (male, Imphal East), 42 (male, Senapati), 66 (male, Thoubal) and 77 (female, Bishnupur) .
With this the death toll has spiked to 578 .
In the meantime, 665 civilians and 12 CAPF personnel were tested positive at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother's Care Hospital, CMC, Hillside Hospital, Sielmat Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, Gilead Health Care Centre, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, Christian Hospital, Advance Hospital, Asian Hospital, Peace Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi and Kamjong.
Out of the 665 civilians tested positive, 422 are shared between Imphal West (263) and Imphal East (159) .
The others are residents of Thoubal (33), Bishnupur (24), Kakching (71), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (70), Chandel (5), Senapati (5), Tamenglong (12), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (17) and Kamjong (2) .
Altogether 399 people who have been undergoing treatment following COVID-19 have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (292), CAPF (9), RIMS (10), RD Wing (9), BB (17), NSU (15), Shija Hospital (15), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (3), Churachandpur (13), Jiribam (2) and Ukhrul (5) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 39,729 (general population 36,027 and Central security personnel 3,702) .
This figure includes 6477 active cases (general population 6302 and Central security personnel 175) and 32,674 recovered cases (general population 29,152 and Central security personnel 3,522).The recovery rate as on Sunday is 82.24 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1488 D type oxygen cylinders and 568 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the State.
So far, 3,09,596 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the State.
Further, all eligible persons have been advised to get vaccinated at vaccination centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals.
