The Government of India is now fully aware that there is a big problem of militancy in the North East region and it is also fully committed to fight all sorts of militancy without any leniency, stated Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Speaking at a gathering held at the BJP Manipur Pra-desh office here this evening, Rajnath Singh, while claiming that there is a strong and vibrant Government at the Centre, appealed to all militant groups operating in the North East region to shun violence.
Any section of people may launch democratic forms of protest movement if they have any grievances but any form of violence would not be tolerated.
There is a BJP Government at the Centre and the new Government should be given opportunity to work for development of the Northeastern States at least for one or two term(s) .

Pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already declared his commitment towards rapid develop- ment of the North East region, the Union Home Minis- ter categorically stated that development and violence cannot go together.
If there should be development, there should be no room for violence.
He urged all militant groups operating in the North East region to join together and come up with a common declaration which gives the BJP Government an opportunity to work for rapid deve- lopment of the region in the next five years.
The recent Municipal Council election of Assam where BJP scripted a convincing success story is a clear indication that people of North East region have reposed their faith and confi- dence in the party.
Opening of bank accounts by more than 12 crore people belonging to BPL families is a landmark achievement for India.
This is a new record in the world, Rajnath remarked.
Many development programmes which could not be implemented in the long years of Congress rule has been successfully initiated in a much shorter period since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India.
People are witnesses to how Prime Minister Narendra Modi transformed India's Look East Policy into Act East Policy, stated MoS Home Kiren Rijiju.
Even though Congress party was in power for a prolonged period, no Congress Government worked with vision.
But after BJP came to power, there is a strong instruction from the Prime Minister to all the 62 Council of Ministers to visit the North East region every fortnight on rotational basis with the objective of accelerating deve- lopment in the region.
For speedy development of Manipur, there is an urgent need to set up a BJP Government, Kiren Rijiju asserted.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba urged the Union Home Minister to impose President's Rule in the State so as to save life and properties of the people.
He also sought Rajnath Singh's attention so that the District Council election is held in time, there is effective administration in the hill areas and the area between the State BJP office and Raj Bhavan is made a silent zone.
