Imphal, November 12 2020: Union Home Minister Amit Shah may visit the state during November to consult all stakeholders of the state before taking any final decision to solve the Naga issue.

This was stated by the Chief Minister N.Biren Singh while talking to media persons at the Chief Minister's office today morning.

The announcement by the Chief Minister is a clear indication about bringing a final settlement of the Naga Issue even though not everything between the NSCN-IM which is the main armed political group and the Government of India has been settled yet.

The modus operandi on how the Government of India will solve the Naga issue if in case the NSCN-IM restrain is only known to the government of India but the Union government initiatives to bring the settlement has been indicated by meeting the NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa before the by-election.

During the press conference held today at Chief Minister's office, N Biren Singh told the media that during the visit of NEDA Chairman Himanta Biswa in connection with the By-election he had stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah may call on the Chief Minister and the opposition leader to have a consultation for bringing a final solution of the Naga issue by November 10 .

However, as no invitation has been sent to the state government in connection with the meeting, the state government contacted to inquire the matter.

The Chief Minister said that he had been informed that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah may come to the state during this November as he had assured to meet all the stakeholders before solving the Naga issue.

"Union Home Minister wanted to meet all the MLAs, civil society representatives and other stakeholders before making any final settlement with the Nagas" N.Biren Singh said.

The Chief Minister however said that exact schedule for the visit of the Union Home Minister is not finalized as of now.

Talking to the media persons at the Chief Minister's Secretariat, N.Biren Singh said that the state government had categorically and repeatedly conveyed to the concern that the integrity of Manipur will not be compromised at any cost while solving the Naga issue.

All ethnic communities including the Naga, Kukis, Meitei or Meitei pangal and other communities have been living together peacefully from time immemorial and will continue to live peacefully in the future too.

"I have given a clear cut message to the central government authority that the state government and the people of the state will not accept any kind of division among the people" .

During a meeting with the Civil society organizations representatives and other stakeholders of the state had also been assured by the Union government that no final conclusion will be made without the consent and without consulting all stakeholders of the state.

The Chief Minister further said that the government too has been giving pressure to the Union government to consult all the stakeholders of the state before taking any decision for a final settlement of the Naga issue.
