The election to the Imphal Municipal Council, which has 27 wards, will be held on May 25 next.
Public notice regarding the holding of the election will be issued on
May 4 .
A highly reliable source said that a decision to hold the election on May 25 was taken in a cabinet meeting held today in the cabinet room of the CM's secretariat this evening.
The cabinet also approved the jurisdiction of 21 newly created police stations among others, the source added.
As per the cabinet decision, the preliminary electoral rolls of the 27 wards of the IMC will be published on April 11 with the last date for filing claims and objections being April 15 and the final electoral rolls will be published on April 25 .
The public notice for the May 25 elections will be issued on May 4 with May 9 being the last date of filing nomination.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on the next day, on May 10, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be on May 12 .
The polling hour will be from 8 am to 4 pm and if need arises, re-polling will be held on May 27 before the counting of votes which will be held on May 29 .
All processes related with the election are targeted to be complete by June 2.The election schedule proposed by the state election commission was approved by the cabinet after making curtain rectifications, the source said.
The cabinet also approved the jurisdiction of 21 newly created police stations after making modifications of the proposal of the state police department.
Details of the jurisdictions of the newly created police stations are not available for the time being but the source said that Sunurok, Tellou, Chana, Laikot Pahizol, Urangpat and Molnom Kuki villages of Imphal east district will be under the newly created Yaingangpokpi PS.
Nogren, Nongdam, Okshu, Ningthemcha Khul and Nongpok Heirok villages will remain under Lamlai PS as earlier.
Laikoiching Tangkhul village will be under the jurisdiction of Maphou Dam PS of Thoubal district as per the cabinet decision.
The cabinet also approved the creation of a post of SDPO for Mayang Imphal in Imphal West district and revocation of termination order of various categories of adhoc employees in the horticulture and soil conservation department and holding of regular DPCs to fill up the posts held by them.
The cabinet further discussed on the framing of rules for recruitment of teachers under the SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) and RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan).
After a thorough discussion on the matter, the cabinet decided to adopt separate cadres of teachers for SSA and RMSA.
As per the approval given by the cabinet, the recruitment of the teachers for SSA and RMSA will be conducted by holding a class-III DPC with Principal Secretary (Education-S) as chairman.
Director of Education (S), state Project Director, SSA/RMSA and subject-matter specialists as members of the DPC.
The guidelines for recruitment will be finalized by Education (S) department with the approval of the Chief Minister and the proposed recruitment rules will be notified by the Department of Personnel based on the proposal from the Administrative Department, the source said.
Recruitment is to be done through open advertisement and reservation norms as per Department of Personnel's 200 point roster will be followed, the source added.
