State records least jump since Jul 5 with 541 new cases; 12 deaths
Cumulative positive cases inch toward one lakh mark

Imphal, August 02 2021:
A significant dip in the number of daily cases from the 832 of August 1 to 541 on August 2 but a slight surge in the number of deaths from 10 on August 1 to 12 on August 2, marked the day on the Covid map in Manipur today.
This is the least number of new cases in 24 hours since July 5 when 432 new cases were added.
Out of 4271 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 541 persons returned positive results to take the daily positivity rate to 12.7 percent.
No Central security personnel tested positive in the last 24 hours.
The number of deaths in the last 24 hours saw a slight hike from the 10 recorded on August 1 to return figures of 12 on August 2 .
Quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement today said that the 12 deaths were drawn from Imphal West (3), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (3), Kangpokpi (1), Kamjong (1) and Churachandpur (3) .
With 12 more deaths recorded, the cumulative number of deaths has risen to 1578, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room and added that out of the 12, 7 persons had co-morbidities and only 2 of them had received their vaccination shots (1st dose) .
The 541 positive cases were detected at RIMS (26), JNIMS (18), District Hospitals (326) and other testing centres (171).The positive cases are drawn from Imphal East (119), Imphal West (100), Thoubal (49), Bishnupur (55), Kakching (55), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (55), Chandel (8), Senapati (20), Tamenglong (23), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (5), Noney (6), Kamjong (2) and Kangpokpi (23) .
All necessary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, added the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
With 541 more cases added the cumulative number of positive cases in the State has risen to 99,872 including 3988 Central security personnel.
On the other hand 1120 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (568), RIMS (47), JNIMS (15), CCCs (227) and CHICs (263).The cumulative number of recovered cases is now 88,480 including 3936 Central security personnel and the recovery rate has gone up to 88.59 percent.
The number of active cases is 9,814 including 47 Central security personnel.
On August 1, a total of 3271 people received their vaccination shot to take the total number of vaccinated people to 13,23,558 including 2,13,240 people who have received their second shot.
In the last 24 hours a total of 1998 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 279 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres.
