Dimapur, January 12:
A day after accusing the Government of India of trying to weaken the NSCN-IM and also at the backdrop of NSCN's "unification" imbroglio after the November Niuland declaration, the NSCN-IM tonight declared an "Emergency in Nagalim" and its Tartar Hoho or Parliament placed under suspended animation from 1 am of January 13, 2008. The notification issued by Chairman of the NSCN-IM Isak Chisi Swu which was made available to Newmai News Network in Dimapur tonight, states, "In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by clause (h), Article 3, of part III of the Yehzabo, I, Isak Chisi Swu, Yaruiwo of the Republic of Nagalim, by this proclamation, declare that an emergency exists".
The reason for this move of the NSCN-IM has been, "In view of the precarious situation in Nagalim which has increasingly threatened peace and normal state of affairs".
Isak Chisi Swu further mentioned in his declaration, "Henceforth, the state of affairs shall be conducted by the (outfit's) National Security Council until further orders".
Since November 24, 2007, matters pertaining to the NSCN factions have been in the boiling pot and the Nagaland commercial hub, Dimapur has become the sole bone of contention among the factions.
The NSCN-IM has accused the Azheto-Singson duo led factions of the NSCN of extorting crores of rupees from the business community in Dimapur just within a one month's time while carrying out kidnapping spree in the hub.
On the other hand, the Sumi or Sema tribe based civil organisations have been extending all out support to the Azheto-Singson duo led faction of the NSCN which was also known in the media as "Unification Team".
The Sema based organisations have been advocating in favour of the "Unification Team" saying that Naga underground factions ought to come under a single banner rather than the present divided house.
However, those opposed to this "Unification Team" feel to bring unity among the Naga underground factions there should be proper arrangement and channel with the right approach.
