LN Singh likens Kuki militants' aggression to Pakistan's

Imphal, November 11 2023: Retired Lieutenant General L Nishikanta Singh has shed light on the escalating tensions in the state and pointed out that Kuki militants have a tendency to launch intense attacks as and when high-profile visits take place in the state.

In a recent posts on X, the retired general officer, who goes by the short name LN Singh, likened the activities of the Kuki militants to those of Pakistan's aggression towards India whenever any world leader visits India.

He cited firing during epochal events such as during the visits of Home Minister Amit Shah, Supreme Court's team, and most recently interlocutor AK Mishra s teams.

He also highlighted the firing incident that occurred on November 8, where approximately 300-400 rounds were exchanged between Kuki and Meetei volunteers at Maphou, Imphal East.

Expressing his concern, LN Singh questioned when this madness would come to an end, noting that old organisations have been replaced by new, more radical ones.

Additionally, he pointed out that poppy has become an alternate cash crop, surpassing other crops in cultivation area.

Further compounding the situation, LN Singh shared information from the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), revealing that during the last week, four Kuki militants were killed by the Myanmar Army in separate incidents.

Two militants lost their lives on November 3 near the In-do-Myanmar border at Nam-phalong, while two more were killed in another incident at Khampat under Tamu Police station in Myanmar.
