'BJP destroys unity' Jairam Ramesh goes on the offensive

Imphal, October 03 2021: Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh, who has been assigned as one of the three AICC observers in Manipur, on Sunday, came down heavily on the BJP-led coalition Government.

He said that if the people of Manipur are concerned about the "deteriorating condition of the State on all fronts", there is no chance for the BJP to come to power again in the State after the 2022 Assembly election.

He also said that the people of the State will "bid good-bye" to the Biren Singh Government in 2022 while the Nation will do the same to the Modi Government in 2024 .

The AICC leader who is camping in Imphal was attending a one-day political interaction programme organized by Thoubal District Congress Committee today at its office at Thoubal.

Ramesh said that the people of the State are now "fed up with the BJP-led Government that has destroyed all development activities taken up by the Congress Government" .

He claimed that during the 15 years of Congress rule, Manipur was in the forefront in taking up developmental activities both in hills and the valley.

"There was a marked improvement in the financial health of the State, too," he further claimed.

"However, since the BJP-led Government came to power four and a half years ago, the State has been converted into "money-poor'", he alleged.

"The incumbent Government has ruined the State.

All developmental activities halted except propaganda", he further alleged.

The AICC leader then said that in the National context too, Congress has brought about unity among the people of all sections of the society but the BJP divided the "hard-earned unity".

"Congress unites, BJP divides.

That is the main difference between Congress and BJP", he said.

The Congress leader explained that Congress brought together people of different religions, languages, communities and castes together while BJP divided the society.

Ramesh, then, turning towards the Congress workers and members, said that "changes are sure to come but we have to work hard".

Former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh who also attended the programme said that Congress candidates have the guts to fight any BJP candidate in any Assembly Constituency and in any aspect.

He called upon the State Congress leaders and workers to work hard unitedly at their level best to ensure Congress return to power again in the state as well as in the Centre.

Jairam Ramesh also attended a programme at Kakching Sumak Leikai today.

There, has urged the people to save Manipur from the dictatorship of BJP.

The programme was organised by Block Congress Committee Kakching (BCCK) and District Congress Committee Kakching (DCCK).

At the function, the Rajya Sabha MP stated that he visited Manipur 14 years ago too and stayed at border town Moreh for a brief period.

Saying that he felt good to visit Manipur again after a long time, he added that he learnt certain lessons from Manipur in every visit.

Saying that saving the State from the hand of BJP is imperative as the latter has become more like a dictator, Jairam Ramesh termed the saffron party as the enemy of the youth and the Nation.

"It's time we abolish the BJP Government," he said and added that the emergence of an active intending candidate of the party in Kakching is a validation that the district is indeed the backbone of Congress in Manipur.

Exuding confidence that the Congress party will surely return to power in the forthcoming State Assembly election, he appealed to all to support the Congress party in the election to ensure good governance in both the State and the Centre.

At the function, Congress intending candidate from Kakching AC Yengkhom Nilachandra presented a shawl to the visiting Congress leader.
