Eight Kukis nabbed with looted items

Imphal, August 27 2023: Security forces apprehended eight Kukis including women along with one Mahindra Bolero fully loaded with household items looted from the abandoned houses in Torbung Bangla and handed them over to Churachandpur police station for necessary action.

The arrested Kukis have been identified as Lalkhumma Voila Vaiphei (driver), his wife Laldaikim, his father B Athang; Luminso, son of Touglam; Letminlal son of Khazam; Maugneu, son of Tougathang; Malsaiom, son of Jamkholen; and N Gamthang son of Paojathang.

According to a police source, security forces stopped a Mahindra Bolero (MN 2G-2528) moving suspiciously from Vanggophai to Torbung Bangla at about 530pm on Saturday.

When checked the vehicle was found carrying 40-50 GCI sheets, two rims (excel) of a vehicle, one spare tyre of heavy vehicle, 25-30 household items, one gas burner, one cycle frame and 30 steel items.

All the eight occupants of the vehicle along with the items recovered have been handed over to Churachandpur police station for necessary action, the source added.
